12 August 2002: Audi has announced a diesel-powered version of its A4 cabriolet - the A4 Cabriolet 2.5 TDI. The car is powered by a revised version of the Audi V6 2.5-litre turbodiesel, whose power ouput has been boosted from 155bhp to 163bhp.

The car comes with a choice of 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic. Fuel consumption in either is the same - 39mpg on the combined cycle. A 0-62mph acceleration of a shade under 10secs is achievable.

In 2001 the Audi division of the VW Group sold more than 725,000 cars in total. Audi revenues totalled around 22 billion euros last year.
