New Audi Sportback unveiled

03 August 2004: The new five-door Audi A3 Sportback shows the distinctive new single-frame radiator grille and coupe-like profile which, along with new tailpipes and high-mounted rear lights, give it a sporty appearance.

With front wheel or quattro permanent four-wheel drive, Sportback will be powered by 4- and 6-cylinder engines in the range 1.6/102 bhp to 3.2 V6/250 bhp, including 1.9 and 2.0 litre TDI versions.

In the line-up also is a new turbo-charged 2.0TFSI four-cylinder version - the world's first production unit to combine a turbocharger with Audi's Le Mans-bred FSI petrol direct injection - plus two additional FSI powered units. Gearbox is 5 and 6-speed manual depending on model with 6-speed tiptronic and DSG transmission amongst the options.
