Not quite Formula One, but a fun Schumaker car (Aug 01)
Imagine that you are sitting around a table on a winters night with three friends at the local Drama Group Annual Table Quiz, writes Tony Conlon. As a team you are doing well. The questions on politics, sport and history are easy, to say the least. The two motor sport questions, however, are real bummers. One: Name Michael Schumachers first-ever car. And two: Apart from his Racing Ferrari whats the only other car Schumacher put his name to? Full Story.

This Idea certainly proves once again one thing, writes Brian Byrne. That what Fiat Auto does best is build small cars.

Surprise preview of Stilo shows Fiat's future strategy (Jun 01)
It won't be here until January, and in the normal course of events we wouldn't have seen the car in detail until the international launch in September, writes Brian Byrne. But I was one of just three Irish journalists who had the chance this week to get up close and personal to the new Fiat Stilo, which will replace the Bravo/Brava. Full Story.

Making Fiat a real contender with a Stilo backbone (Sep 01)
Paolo Gagliardo used to scuba dive, a way of taking time out into an environment where he was a guest rather than in charge, writes Brian Byrne. And at the very least, its probably the only environment left where the mobile phone doesnt intrude. All you have to worry about are the sharks. But Fiat Auto Irelands new CEO doesnt have much time for such escape these days. Full Story.

Stilo is two cars in one (Mar 02)
I seem to be very familiar with Fiats new Stilo, probably because I saw it first in the metal just a year ago, at the 2001 Geneva Show, and subsequently up very close during a trip to Turin, writes Brian Byrne. It impressed then. It impresses still. And if Fiat have ever had a contender against class-leaders Toyota Corolla and Ford Focus, this is it.

Two cars, one name - Stilo
Unmistakeably Italian, writes Trish Whelan. Distinctively Fiat. Thats the new Stilo. Its an important benchmark car for Fiat, marking its commitment to competing strongly in the highly competitive C-Segment which accounts for almost 4m cars a year in Europe. Full Story.

Fiat's strategy of repositioning
A relaunch of the Multipla and the introduction of a passenger version of the Doblo van (left) are among a schedule of Fiat Auto Ireland events which the company hopes will provide a new motoring talking point in Ireland every month of this year, writes Bill Trapman. While the main emphasis will be on making the new Stilo a success in the C segment, a change of course will include a determined mission to protect the residuals in the value of its cars. Full Story.

Stilo is a good car that grows on you
Forget that hoary old prejudice against bigger Fiats, writes Trish Whelan. It's time you grew up. Fiat has, in this segment, and it deserves at least an unbiased trial. The strategy behind the Stilo is to provide a well built car with a lot of features that are extras at the same price point in competitive cars. After a number of opportunities to try it with various engine options, weve come to the conclusion that its a hell of a good car.

Abarth Stilo could be arresting (Jan 03)
The only way I could consider buying a Fiat Stilo Abarth for myself would be in a midnight blue colour, and with the skirts removed, writes Brian Byrne. Because otherwise, even keeping within the speed laws as much as is reasonable, I would be a target for every radar gun and camera in whatever part of the country I happened to be driving through. Just because of the visibility.

Stilo Multi Wagon will extend Fiat choice (Feb 03)
The new Fiat Stilo Multi Wagon about to go on sale in Ireland will have a number of features which are more commonly associated with MPVs than mere station wagons, writes Ray Bernard. The designers say that flexibility of use was the guiding principle in developing the car, which completes the wide range of vehicles from the Stilo stable.
