6 August 2002: Hyundai is to offer a five-year, fully manufacturer-backed, unlimited mileage warranty as standard across its range, in the UK, from September

The new warranty is available to private and fleet users, and applies to all models in the range including the Hyundai Amica, Accent, Matrix, Elantra, Coupe, Sonata, Trajet, Santa Fe and XG30. This is a permanent move by the company, not just a limited time offer.

As has been the case with the existing warranty, the UK’s first five year warranty has been made as ‘transparent’ and easy to understand as possible.

The warranty covers virtually all mechanical and electrical components. Some perishable items are understandably not included. However items such as the exhaust system, timing belts and shock absorbers, for example, are covered for five years unlimited mileage.

New owners will not be expected to pay extra for the two additional years, and the price of the model range is unchanged.

The warranty is transferable to a new owner if the vehicle is sold within the five year warranty period.
