Avensis is Semperit ICOTY 2004

20 November 2003: The Toyota Avensis is the Semperit Irish Car of the Year 2004.

The announcement was made at the annual award lunch in Dublin today, by the chairman of the Irish Motoring Writers Association, Tony Conlon.

The Avensis came in ahead of the other finalists - Renault Scenic, Fiat Panda, Opel Meriva, and Nissan Micra.

The new Volkswagen Transporter was selected as Semperit Irish Van of the Year 2004.

The full results were as follows:

Semperit Irish Car of the Year 2004
1. Toyota Avensis - 106 points
2. Renault Megane/Scenic - 100 points
3. Fiat Panda - 90 points
4. Opel Meriva - 70 points
5. Nissan Micra - 52 points


Semperit Irish Van of the Year 2004
1. VW Transporter - 26 points
2. Ford Transit Connect - 21 points
3. Toyota Landcruiser commercial - 13 points
