Most Jaguar Estates to be diesel

24 February 2004: Most of the 30 or so Jaguar X-Type Estates sold in this country this year will likely be diesel-powered.

The car goes on sale at the end of this month, and the buyers are expected to be younger than those who buy saloon Jaguars. The brand's first estate is aimed at customers who have 'active lifestyles' and the extra sales are expected to be incremental rather than taking from the existing customer base.

Meanwhile, Jaguar Ireland had its best month ever in January, with sales of 70 cars. To put that in perspective, the figure is more than were sold in the entire year of 1995.
