Kia gets into A segment

27 August 2003: Kia Motors will unveil a brand new A-segment car at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. The five-door car will be available in a four and a five-seat version.

The car, which is powered by a 1.0 litre 60 ps engine, will have its name revealed on the second press day of the show. A 1.1-litre 64 ps version will also be available, and a diesel will be released in 2005.

The company expects to sell 60,000 units a year.

The Kia range currently covers around 35% of European segmentation. By 2005 this will increase to around 85%.
