Lexus concept does a Pluriel

20 April 2004: The third Lexus concept design within a year - the LF-C luxury coupe at the New York International Auto Show - has adopted some of the attitude of the Citroen Pluriel multi-mode car.

With a 4-position retractable hardtop, the car can be transformed at the touch of a button from a coupe to a convertible, to a targa or to a speedster.

Otherwise it is completely different from the little Citroen, though. The Lexus is built on a large rear wheel drive platform with a front-mounted V8 engine.

A steering wheel with the gauges stacked along the steering column axis are another element. The gauges are transparent, with needles moving from the ring, rather than the centre.
