Freelander comprehensively improved

27 November 2003: Land Rover’s award-winning Freelander has been comprehensively improved for 2004, with some 700 new or improved components.

Changes to the front end involve a revised grille and a lights redesign that reflects the family look pioneered by the current Range Rover. The former butch raw plastic bumper is now body-coloured.

Inside, there’s better trim material and aluminised detailing on the doors and fascia, which upgrade the feel of the car to the level of a high-quality executive saloon.

There’s also a new premium HSE specification level, and a Sport derivative aimed at a new young buyership.

The familiar 1.8- and 2.5-litre petrol and the BMW 2-litre TD4 diesel are still the power choices.

The new Sport version has a distinctive Sport badge, 18-inch alloys, and rides 30cm lower than the standard vehicle.

Prices from €29,790 for the 3-door.
