East Europe, far East, fastest growing

28 February 2003: The fastest-growing car markets are currently Eastern Europe and the Far East, according to the 2002-2003 World Automotive Market Report published by the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA).

The reports says the number of personal vehicles on the road in Eastern European markets rose nearly 4 per cent over the past 10 years, while individually Poland and Czechoslovakia reported increases of 8 per cent and 7 per cent.

China, India, and Vietnam all have reported double-digit growth since 1991.
