Hyundai brings Matrix to Ireland

11 October 2001: Hyundai Cars Ireland has launched the Matrix mini-MPV to the Irish market at a price of £15,600. A diesel version will become available next year.
The vehicle is aimed at the segment of the market dominated by Renault's Scenic and Opel's Zafire, and is powered by a 1.6-litre engine. Among the options is a 4-speed automatic gearbox.
According to the company's official figures, the Matrix achieves a combined fuel cycle of 35.3mpg and emits 191 gCO2/km.
Standard fittings include four airbags, electric windows front and rear, a 6-speaker sound system, and slide and folding rear seats.
Air conditioning is an option at £1,200.
If specification levels are costed, Hyundai Cars Ireland claims that the Matrix offers a value adjusted advantage of £1,890 and £4,058 against the top two players in the segment.
The company also launched its commercial version of the Santa Fe SUV last night. It costs £21,995, and is powered by the 2-litre turbodiesel option. BB
