MAZDA2

Mazda2 will shake up the segment (Feb 03)
They don't come more cut-throat than in the supermini segment, writes Brian Byrne. It is key to gaining first customers who might well be prepared to stay with their first brand into the next segment of small family cars.

Mazda2 is another zoom-zoom (Jul 03)
My first Irish drive in the new Mazda2 immediately confirmed my impressions from the international launch, writes Brian Byrne. This is a baby Mazda that's going to do the business for the brand in a real zoom-zoom manner.

323

This Mazda grows on you - quickly (May 01)

Like a good pair of denim jeans, Mazda says its 323 model is built to last. And just like your favourite garment, the longer you wear it the more it grows on you, writes Trish Whelan. It certainly grew on me. The review car we tested was the sports version 5-door hatchback which could almost be likened to a small estate car when the rear seats are folded down. Given its high spec and driving performance, it’s hard to understand why Mazda don’t sell more of these cars than they do. Full Story.

MAZDA3

Mazda 3 will swing brand (Nov 03)
After some 30 years of Mazda 323 sales in Ireland, there's a strong and loyal customer base for the new version, writes Brian Byrne. It shouldn't be hard to sell to them. The 3 is highly styled, a car that will be easily identified as it comes up in the rear view mirror.

Mazda's MPV would make a decent day-home (Feb 00) - Brian Byrne

MAZDA6

Mazda6 has elite car subtleties
(FIRST IRISH REVIEW)
Is it a BMW? Is it a Lexus? Well, no it’s not. It’s a Mazda, write Trish Whelan & Brian Byrne. But they were the questions asked by the first two people to see, separately, the new Mazda6 when we took it for our photoshoots. Which confirmed that the designers at Mazda had done what they set out to do, because BMW was their benchmark when they set out to develop this successor to the 626.

Mazda bats a 6 (Nov 02)
It is not hard to see why this replacement for the 626 has done so well already, writes Bill Trapman. Developed under the guiding hand of Ford, which has run the company for a number of years, the new 6 is everything the predecessor car was not. It looks good, has modern engines, an interior that lifts it close to the luxury class, and it drives very well indeed.

RX-8

Mazda keeps the Wankel faith (Jun 03)
Just now the European launch of the Mazda RX-8 sports car is in full swing at Rimini in Italy, and we'll soon be seeing copies of it on Irish roads, writes Graeme Elliot. A rather few copies, granted, but the RX-8 is important for a far more important reason than its numbers sold.

Mazda hones a tech edge (May 04)
There are many times when bravery must be applauded, writes Brian Byrne. Mostly to do with human endeavour. And rightly so, because that is what humans are supposed to do.
