09 February 2004: Mercedes-Benz has publically admitted that it is currently not at the top of the tree on quality terms, but says it will be back there by 2006.
The problems have related to electronics 'glitches' in recent years, which have resulted in the prestige brand dropping down the lists in key ownership surveys, even in its homeland.
Disgruntled customers in the US have even set up a website to tell each other how to deal with M-B when problems occur.

In an interview to be published this week in Automotive news, he also says that 'who is in the lead always has the biggest problems'.
