200bhp MINI speeding in
25 November 2002: This is the ultimate MINI, a 200bhp Cooper S Works, due on sale in the UK from January.
The car has been developed by British tuning specialist John Cooper Works, and has a performance upgrade kit to increase the 163bhp to the higher level. The new car's 0-60mph sprint time drops from 7.4 to just six seconds.
The alterations include fitting a new head to the 1.6-litre engine from the standard Cooper S. The car's supercharger also has modified turbine blades.
The modifications to the engine boost maximum torque from 210Nm to 253Nm. A Works bodykit based on the MINI's Aero packis available.
The upgrade kit is approved by BMW, and doesn't affect warranty.
