23 July 2003: Mitsubishi Motors Europe will unveil the i compact concept at September's Frankfurt Motor Show. The car has a lightweight body combined with a powertrain that uses a newly developed 1.0-litre MIVEC engine mated to a continuously variable transmission.

The addition of an 'idling stop' function cuts the mid-placed engine during idling.

The Lancer Station Wagon in its 2-litre Sport version will also feature, as will the Grandis MPV. Built off an all-new specific platform, this full size MPV will be launched in Europe during the first half of 2004.

The Lancer Evolution VIII, available during the first quarter of 2004 in the Mitsubishi Motors dealer network, will be the first Lancer Evolution sold fully homologated and with a Manufacturer’s warranty in Europe.
