04 March 2003: GENEVA MOTOR SHOW The next D-segment Peugeot, the 407, will appeal to a much younger buyer segment than much of the competition in the area dominated by the Toyota Avensis and Ford Mondeo.

Mark O'Connell of Gowan Group, the distributors of Peugeot in Ireland, told IrishCar.Com at the Geneva Motor Show today that the new car will have resemblences to the sleek style of the 607, but in a much more aesthetically pleasing compact size.

A key feature of the car, due in the middle of next year and not yet previewed publically, will be a front grille which Mark O'Connell said has certain resemblance to the very attractive front end of current Maserati cars.

And he also revealed that the coupe version of the 407 will be even more desirable than the current 406 coupe, largely acknowledged as one of the most successful cars of its kind in the last decade, and which is still considered a classic of the coupe form.
