Carrera GT's build rate doubled

17 February 2004: Porsche is to double its production of the Carrera GT, from one a day to two.

The move will more than double the number of workers on the production line for the model, which currently stands at 30.

Buyers will still have to wait two years for the car after they order.

The decision comes against the background of Porsche again taking the lion's share of the 'exotic' car segment last year, its/ 13,074 sales representing 77.7 per cent of the segment. Next up was Ferrari with 2,227 sales, or 13.2 per cent.
