PSA, BMW, detail engine plans

03 February 2003: The Peugeot-Citroen PSA Group is to begin manufacturing a new range of small engines in 2005. The project is a joint one with BMW.

The engines will be produced at a new production unit in Douvrin, France, an existing plant that produces engines for both PSA and Renault.

The project represents a E430 million investement and the cost will be divided between the two manufacturers according to the volume of engines produced for each firm.

The engines produced will include power units for the MINI, whose engines are surrently sourced from Chrysler in Brazil.
