New transmission plant for PSA

09 April 2003: The cornerstone was laid today of a new production facility at the PSA Group’s plant in Valenciennes, France, which will manufacture a new electronic transmission unit.

The facility will be able to produce 17,500 units a week of the system, in which electronic control of the clutch and gear shifting will significantly improve vehicle performance and drivability, while improving fuel economy.

The transmission will be gradually fitted on both petrol and diesel-powered mid-range Peugeot and Citroën vehicles.

The project will cost a total of E430 million.
