Range Rover gets into Top Gear

7 February 2002: The new Range Rover has been voted Car of the Year 2002 by the BBC's Top Gear Magazine.

The new BMW Mini took the small car of the year prize, while Nissan's Primera was voted medium car of the year. Best executive car was the BMW 3 Series.

The Fiat Multipla (below) was best family car for the third consecutive year in this particular magazine.

The award to the Multipla described by the judges for a car that is 'just a bit longer than a Mini and almost as roomy as a Pickfords removal van'.

The Primera and the Range Rover will go on sale in March.
