Cullen signs 5-year Renault contract

03 October 2003: Bill Cullen, Chairman of Renault Ireland, this week signed a 5-year contract for the exclusive rights to import and distribute Renault vehicles in Ireland. He’s pictured above with Alain Margaritopol, Export Director of Renault France SA in Renault HQ, Paris.

“At a time when all motor manufacturers are consolidating to achieve a lean distribution system, this new contract is a strong vote of confidence for Cullen’s future plans,” the Renault Ireland chairman said afterwards.

Mr Cullen bought the Renault Franchise from Waterford Crystal in 1986 for £1. He nursed the ailing company back to robust good health and has set his sights on Opel’s No. 5 slot in the Irish Market.

“This allows us to move up a gear in our Dealership Development Programme,” he noted. “Renault builds the safest cars you can drive, so “FIRST FOR SAFETY” is the platform we will use to increase our sales in Ireland. In the coming months we will announce details of our €50 million investment programme that will bring Renault into the top 3 car brands in Ireland.”
