Renault/Nissan fourth biggest

11 March 2004: Renault and Nissan combined now rank as the fourth biggest carmaker group in the world, after GM, Ford and Toyota, and will publicly consolidate that position by issuing combined financial results.

Currently Renault, which took 44.4 per cent of an ailing Nissan in 1999 and turned the company around to become the world's most profitable marque, is world number five behind the combined production of DaimlerChrysler and Mitsubishi.

between them, Renault and Nissan make 5.1 million vehicles a year.
