Safety campaign for October holiday

25 September 2002: A road safety promotion for the October Bank Holiday weekend will try to involve companies throughout Ireland, asking them to highlight a ‘Vulnerable Road Users’ message to their staff.

The campaign by the National Safety Council will also be operated in 12 major shopping centres around Ireland in the week prior to the holiday weekend, distributing brochures asking drivers to be aware of pedestrians, motorcyclists and pedal cyclists.

The campaign also asks those groups to be aware of their vulnerability. A fifth of all traffic deaths are pedestrians.
