Seatbelt Sheriffs ride in
12/10/04: by Brian Byrne The National Safety Council in association with Renault have launched a 'Seatbelt Sheriff' campaign that invites primary school children to play a big part in saving lives and preventing injury on our roads. Thousands of school children aged between six and eight will be 'sworn in' and pledging to always wear their seatbelt and to make sure that everyone else in the car is buckled up. According to the National Roads Authority only 46% of adults, 48% of primary school children and 44% of secondary school children are strapped in when travelling in a car. 'Sirriam Sábháilte': An Irish language version of the 'Seatbelt Sheriff' pack will also be sent to gaeilscoileanna around the country and schools in Gaeltacht areas.
